A trip to Kenting just isn't complete without seafood, and the most famous seafood restaurant in Kenting has to be ”A-Xing Sashimi (阿興生魚片)“. But every weekend the line is enormous — you can't always get in when you want to. Shang An Live Seafood sits right across the street from A-Xing (Google Maps link), so if you're craving seafood but got turned away at A-Xing, consider coming here instead. You'll get equally good seafood — it holds a 4.8-star Google rating, and overall everything we ate was very fresh and tasty.

In fact, the seafood restaurants around Houbihu all sell very cheap sashimi while their stir-fried seafood dishes run on the pricier side, so I'd say sashimi lovers get the best value dining here.

Shang An Live Seafood: Another Way to Enjoy Seafood in Kenting

Shang An Live Seafood is right across from A-Xing Sashimi, with its own parking lot and restrooms. Honestly, the dining space is more spacious and brighter than A-Xing's.

The seafood displayed at the entrance is pricier, but you can tell it's all very fresh, and customers are free to pick what they like.

Shang An Live Seafood Menu & Prices

The two of us ordered five dishes this time, which came out to about NT$500~600 per person — with a bigger group the per-person cost can come down a bit.

The star of the show, the sashimi, is very cheap, but the stir-fried dishes are priced at typical tourist-area levels with average portions. What we ordered was just right for a couple.

Shang An Live Seafood: White Shrimp|Sashimi|Stir-Fried Water Lotus|Basil Clams|Clam Soup

The sashimi was genuinely fresh and delicious, the white shrimp tasted wonderfully fresh, and the basil clams went great with rice. The stir-fried water lotus was a bit ordinary, and the clam soup was rather bland — my guess is they went light on the salt to let the clams' natural sweetness shine through.
