I've casually played The Battle Cats for five years, including one break from the game, and the developers finally held an offline event we could attend. Nobody around me plays it, so it was rare to see so many fellow Battle Cats players — overhearing chatter about which stage is brutal, which Blue-Eyed unit is stronger, and how people manage their main and alt accounts was honestly a pretty special experience. So I decided to document today's event in full.

The event ran for two days, but on Saturday only 700 numbered entry tickets were handed out and lots of people couldn't get in. Having planned to go on Sunday, I headed north the day before, got up early, and was in line by 6:30. I received a ticket for the 11:20 session. Once inside, I thought it was pretty decent overall — the activities were all good and the staff clearly knew how to manage the crowd. The venue was a bit small, but since the organizers capped the number of people admitted, you could still get photos at all the photo spots.

A few things left me less satisfied though. First, the merchandise was really on the pricey side — the Demon Slayer plushies next door were far more refined and only NT$500, while the Battle Cats stuff easily broke NT$1,000 apiece. Not very friendly for budget shoppers, though it still sold like crazy… many items sold out almost instantly. I guess it really is that rare! I think selling admission tickets and pricing the merch lower would have been better. Also, the standees and packaging all featured the basic Cat. I understand wanting to appeal to newer players, but for those of us who've played for years, surely a 3D Dark Kasli wouldn't be too much to ask for a 10th anniversary!

As for the overcrowding, if the next one is also a pop-up, I think they should switch to a bigger venue or extend the opening hours and dates, which would give Battle Cats fans more flexibility in planning their visit. The two biggest complaints I saw over these two days were definitely the long queues and people not getting in at all.

After entering at 11:20, thanks to the crowd cap, the space inside felt fairly roomy — I thought the staff managed things pretty well.

Photo Backdrops and Displays

The backdrops this time were all a bit plain — there wasn't a single must-shoot backdrop. They could have put a few more Cats on them.

In-Venue Activity Games

By joining the on-site activities you could collect three free souvenirs in total — an L-shaped folder, a pin badge, and stickers — all of them quite nice. Every activity was open to try, and each mini-game wrapped up in about 30 seconds.

Cat Army Assault

A game where you throw beanbags at the enemies — pretty fun and pretty easy. No prizes, purely for the experience.

Cat Pool Scooping Game

Scoop five balls within 15 seconds, then hand them to the staff to scan for a score. Just good fun — the score doesn't mean anything. No prizes, purely for the experience.

Gacha Cat Hat Toss

Toss hats onto the Gacha Cat in front of you, similar to ring toss. No prizes — just a fun little game.

Game Demo Zone

Since many newer players have never used characters like Dark Kasli, Dark Phono, or White Phono, the organizers set up two accounts on site so newcomers could try out different characters. At first I thought we'd get some head-to-head battle using our own phone accounts — turns out I was expecting too much.

Voting Activity

Ask a staff member for a sticker dot, vote for either Wall Cat or Cat, and you get a pin badge — probably my favorite souvenir of the day.

Complete all the activities and you should walk away with the L-shaped folder, stickers, and badge — all pretty good-looking. The badge was my favorite souvenir of the day, really cute.

Special Stage Events

Beyond the mini-games there were also special stage events — four sessions in total. I joined the 12:25 “How Well Do You Know The Battle Cats?” quiz, which was basically the familiar Kahoot format. The questions were the kind only veteran players would know — getting them all right is genuinely tough.

Kahoot Battle Cats quiz — ▲The top three could claim extra prizes with a screenshot. Some questions were quite tricky, yet the correct-answer rate on site was surprisingly high — these are truly devoted Battle Cats fans.

Battle Cats Merchandise Sales

Pricey yet selling this well — it honestly shocked me. Then again, official Battle Cats merchandise is rare, so grabbing everything in one go is pretty satisfying.
