On this trip I spent three days in downtown Taichung, and since I had to catch the HSR on the last day, I chose to stay at Sanhao Hotel — and it turned out to be a genuinely great place to stay. Not only is the location excellent, with the National Taichung Theater and Taichung Metropolitan Park nearby, but the MRT Shui'an Temple Station is just 100 meters away with a direct line to the HSR station, and there's a YouBike station right next door. It's really convenient.
Another surprise was that for a room priced at just two to three thousand NT dollars a night, the room itself is huge, the air conditioning is nice and cold, and the bathroom has a hotel-quality wet-dry separation. Best of all, there's a buffet breakfast included — my wife and I both had a really enjoyable stay. Honestly, for the price, the service and facilities you get here feel like real value for money. Whether you're a couple, a family, or traveling for business, Sanhao Hotel is a great choice.
Parking is available for those driving, but you need to let them know in advance since spots are limited!

Sanhao Hotel: A Recommended Hotel in Downtown Taichung
The lobby and lounge are both grand and bright, giving you the feeling of staying at a proper big-city hotel.

The hotel is very close to MRT Shui'an Temple Station, with all kinds of restaurants nearby, and it's also near the National Taichung Theater. There's a 7-Eleven and a FamilyMart right on the ground floor, so you never have to worry about finding food at night. The location really is super convenient.
Sanhao Hotel: Room Features
The room is big and comfortable, with a sofa and a desk — at this price point, it's hard to find a room this spacious anywhere in downtown Taichung. The bed and floor were both spotless, so housekeeping is clearly doing a thorough job.
Another highlight is that the TV supports Netflix, so you can log in with your own account and watch Netflix.
What really impressed me was the size of the bathroom — it felt almost hotel-grade, which might sound like an exaggeration, but the floor is finished in large tiles, the vanity has a big mirror, and importantly, the wet-dry separation is done really well and kept spotlessly clean. I care a lot about bathroom cleanliness, and this is one of the main reasons I'd highly recommend this hotel.
Sanhao Hotel: Delicious Buffet Breakfast
After a comfortable night's sleep, I discovered the breakfast here was even more of a pleasant surprise — it's a full buffet, with all the Chinese and Western, hot and cold dishes you'd want. The ingredients aren't especially fancy, but for a business hotel at this price point, a breakfast spread like this is more than satisfying.
