Royal Roi Hotel was completed in 2019, so it's a relatively new property. It's close to the Fengjia commercial district, the National Taichung Theater, the Central Taiwan Science Park, and the Shuinan Economic and Trade Park — making it a pretty convenient base whether you're in Taichung for travel or business.

The rooms are warm and comfortable, and overall very clean, with large windows facing outward in every room — a nice touch. But the biggest highlight is that every bathroom has its own little Japanese-style soaking tub! Whether it's a wooden barrel tub or a Japanese-style sitting bath, you can see the view outside while soaking — definitely this hotel's biggest selling point!

Royal Roi Hotel's weekday rates are cheap, and weekends run around NT$4,000–5,000. The bigger downside is there's no breakfast available (the kitchen is currently closed) — not even a paid option. Compared to the Courtyard by Marriott next door, it feels like something's missing. Luckily, Taichung has no shortage of great food, so skipping this one breakfast isn't a big deal.

【Royal Roi Hotel】A Recommended Boutique Hotel in Taichung

Royal Roi Hotel has a strikingly modern exterior, and the hotel proudly notes it has won multiple design awards. Looking at the building's shape, it really does stand out.

Royal Roi Hotel: Location & Transportation

Royal Roi Hotel is located in Xitun District, right next to Freeway 74 (Google Maps link), so you don't need to fight your way into downtown Taichung — a real plus. Driving through downtown Taichung via Taiwan Boulevard or the interchanges usually means heavy traffic, but here you just get off Freeway 74 and you're there. No need to squeeze through the Taiwan Boulevard interchange — I think it's a great location.

The hotel provides parking, so if you're road-tripping to Taichung, I'd recommend parking your car here and using the Ubike bikes right at the entrance to get around. You can bike to Fengjia Night Market or the National Taichung Theater in under 10 minutes — no need to drive into the city center and deal with traffic.

Royal Roi Hotel: Public Spaces

The first-floor lobby and front desk area are designed with real style, and the other shared facility is a simple gym on the rooftop.

Royal Roi Hotel: Guest Rooms

The rooms are clean, and the bath products used are quite good, though note that they don't provide single-use disposable toiletries. Also, be sure to check the photos when booking — I'd recommend booking a room with the in-room Japanese-style soaking tub, which is really this hotel's standout feature.

▲The toilet is walled off separately from the bathroom, keeping wet and dry areas apart

Royal Roi Hotel
▲The body wash and shampoo are decent quality, though compared to Taipei hotels that have now switched to Camellia Seed Hall (茶籽堂) products, it still falls a bit short
Royal Roi Hotel
▲The star feature: the in-room Japanese-style soaking tub! It's still just a bath, but somehow seeing that Japanese style really lifts the mood!

▲The Japanese soaking tub is very clean, and while not huge, it's doable for two people to squeeze in together
