Getting There
Located in the Dali shopping district, near Sun-chin Kong and Hanshin Department Store, the closest MRT station is Central Park Station on the Red Line, about an 8-minute walk away. Easy to park a scooter here; if you're driving, you can park along Zhonghua Road or use a nearby paid parking lot, though those spots are a bit harder to find.
Restaurant Environment
Located on Zhonghua Road, the interior is about the same size as a typical ramen shop, clean and comfortable, with lemon ice water provided. Just note that the shop has a posted reminder: no restroom available for customer use.
How to Order
Menya Saisei uses a self-service ordering machine, and cash only is accepted! There are four ramen options to choose from: shoyu, shio, and spicy chicken-and-pork broth ramen, plus a special "my style" ramen made with shrimp broth — worth trying if you're curious. When ordering, you can choose whether to add extra noodles (+NT$40~80) and adjust the noodle firmness to your liking.
Shoyu / Spicy Chicken & Pork Ramen
This time we ordered the shoyu chicken-and-pork ramen (NT$230) and the spicy chicken-and-pork ramen (NT$250). The shoyu broth was excellent and rich, and the spicy version had a good kick of heat. I didn't adjust the noodle firmness and they tasted great as-is. As for the char siu, the pieces were huge and beautifully tender, with a nice balance of lean and fat — really well-braised char siu.
Each bowl also came with two pieces of sous-vide chicken, a soft-boiled marinated egg, scallions, baby corn, and onion — the overall portion was very satisfying.
