Every time I visit the restaurant area of Mitsui Outlet Park Taichung Port in Wuqi, I'm always drawn in by the mala aroma of Hong Ting Revolving Spicy Hot Pot (紅亭迴轉麻辣鍋), so this time I finally went in to try it. It's the only conveyor-delivery hot pot restaurant run by the Old Sichuan (老四川) restaurant group. In short: the dining environment is comfortable, prices are mid-range, the broth is average, the meats are average, the seafood is fresh (especially the shrimp), and the self-service bar has a rich selection. The most eye-catching part is the conveyor train food delivery — a fairly novel experience — and overall it was a good visit.

Hong Ting Revolving Spicy Hot Pot: Conveyor Dining and Harbor Views
In my opinion, one of this restaurant's main selling points is the harbor view. Most guests can't actually see it from their seats — only the table at the very end gets to enjoy it — but when you walk over to the self-service bar to grab food, taking a peek at the scenery outside the window is a nice little mood boost.

Location and Access
Hong Ting Revolving Spicy Hot Pot is located on the second floor of the indoor section of Mitsui Outlet Park Taichung Port in Wuqi — very easy to find.
Ordering and Dining
There are two all-you-can-eat price tiers, NT$798 and NT$598. The NT$798 tier adds extras like wagyu beef, scallops and jumbo white shrimp. Another nice touch is the children's pricing, which takes some of the pressure off families dining out — I thought that was really thoughtful.

Conveyor Train Food Delivery
Hot pot items, meats and seafood are ordered via the QR code on your table and delivered right to your seat by a little conveyor train. After taking your food, press the red button to send the train back to the kitchen — it's quite a distinctive feature.
We ordered the wellness white broth and the signature mala spicy pot. I was expecting the white broth to have goji-berry herbal notes, but to be honest it didn't have much flavor. The signature mala pot is properly spicy and tastes pretty good — don't order it if you can't handle heat.

Self-Service Bar
The self-service bar has a rich selection, and surprisingly the biggest standout is the braised pork rice — the pork belly is incredibly tender. You really should have a bowl.
