Wanke Shabu (萬客什鍋) has four branches in Taipei and five in Taichung — nine in total — making it a well-established hot pot chain. This time I visited the Chang'an East branch in Taipei, which isn't too far from the MRT station. The dining space is roomy and bright (the air conditioning was actually a touch too strong), and it's a very comfortable spot for all kinds of gatherings. The main draw is the mind-boggling number of soup bases — you will genuinely struggle to choose. My top pick is the peeled chili chicken; the flavor is truly excellent.
Every Wanke Shabu branch has a Google rating of 4.2 stars or above, and the Chang'an East branch sits at 4.4 stars — proof that both the dining experience and the quality are consistently good. Prices are reasonable too. No wonder it has become a hot pot spot people happily line up for.

Wanke Shabu: Refined Stone Hot Pot Every Soup-Base Lover Must Try
The Chang'an East branch is in Zhongshan District, closest to Songjiang Nanjing MRT Station — about a 7-minute walk, so it's very easy to get to. Wanke Shabu also has the Xinzhuang Fuxing, Yonghe Zhongzheng, and Bade branches in the Taipei area, and the experience should be much the same at any of them.
Dining Environment and Self-Service Bar
The dining space is bright and spacious — a really pleasant experience — and the self-service bar offers a huge range of condiments, plus ice cream and drinks.

A Menu with Dozens of Soup Bases
The soup base list here is honestly long enough to give you decision paralysis. I've listed most of them below for reference — but there are actually even more!

Highly Recommended: Peeled Chili Chicken Pot
I can't recommend the peeled chili chicken soup base enough — the friend who introduced me to this place orders it every single time too. The peeled chilies are surprisingly crunchy~ One thing to note: once the first pot is served, any soup refills use the regular stock, without the peeled chili flavor — a small drawback.
